The 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR): Will our current skills be sufficient?

Updated: Aug 2, 2021

In simple terms, the 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR) is a fusion of advances in artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, the Internet of Things (IoT), genetic engineering, quantum computing, and other technologies.

The key to keeping up with the pace of 4 IR is to be aware of how customer needs are changing. In this way companies may choose appropriate training interventions for employees so that the training outcomes meet the requirements of 4IR.

The 4IR brings rapid advancements in artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies which always raises the conversation about a growing “skills gap.” According to the World Economic Forum, 35% of the skills demanded for jobs across industries will change by 2020.

Are you aware of the advancements of 4IR within your industry? Is it time to do a skills audit with the expressed intent of aligning to the skills needed for 4IR?
